My name is Doug Schneider, and I live in Canada. On May 15, 2023, I was flying from Montreal to Munich on Lufthansa. My flight was cancelled at the last moment and Lufthansa did not give us hotel vouchers, meal vouchers, taxi receipts, etc. It was past 9 p.m. We were told by Lufthansa agents that we would have to write Lufthansa and they would compensate us, but that we would have to pay out of pocket that night.

I was rebooked on a flight the next day through the United States, so I arrived in Munich about 24 hours late. Shortly after my return home from Munich, I submitted my claim to Lufthansa for compensation.

Initially, Lufthansa offered to compensate me for a proposed amount, but when I wrote back and explained why the compensation was not enough for the costs and inconvenience I incurred by arriving in Munich 24 hours late, they would not acknowledge my email. I wrote several times more with no response. I submitted subsequent claims because I could not get acknowledgement of the first claim and was then told Lufthansa would not compensate me at all. None of this makes sense.

The process has been frustrating and unfair, but in researching more online, my problem is not unique because many people seem to have similar problems. As a result, I have decided to start this website where I plan to put up a forum and people can explain their problems with this airline. Perhaps a group effort will convince Lufthansa to do the right thing.
